Jennifer attended the University of Mississippi and earned her Bachelor of Art in Political Science in 2000, graduation Cum Laude, in addition to completing a year of independent study on Native American legal issues and studying comparative politics abroad at King’s College in London. She continued her studies at the University of Mississippi School of Law, graduating in 2002 with her Juris Doctorate.

Jennifer started her legal career in the employ of Chancellors Patricia Wise and Denise Owens as their law clerk, and most recently served as Senior Staff Attorney the 10th Chancery Court District for over eight years. During her time there, she presided over cases as Special Master; oversaw the state’s first multi-county district implementation of MEC (Mississippi Electronic Courts); and spearheaded the early implementation of the GAP Act as a pilot district.


Jennifer and her husband Noel live in Ellisville with their two teenage children, and attend Ellisville First United Methodist Church.

Jennifer handles family law matters and also works with senior partner Tom Fortner representing clients in criminal cases, both federal and state, throughout the State of Mississippi.

  • Criminal Felony Cases: Capital Murder (Death Penalty eligible), all other types of murder and/or manslaughter cases; other serious felony charges including but not limited to robbery, burglary, assault and sexual assault, all controlled substance charges.

  • Criminal Post-Conviction Cases: Wrongful conviction, ineffective assistance of counsel resulting in conviction, wrongful incarceration, attacks on guilty pleas, etc.

  • Criminal Appeals: Appeal of criminal convictions from all circuit courts to the Mississippi Supreme Court and Mississippi Court of Appeals.

  • Expungements: Related to eligible felony and misdemeanor convictions.

  • D.U.I. defense

  • Family Law - divorce, custody, contempt and modification, adoption
